Despite its oil-rich lands, Bandar is a simple and modest country within Brunei’s borders. Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB for short), focuses on urban settings, with malls and restaurants littering the area. But BSB’s historic past shines through in the form of the largest water village and a few museums within its subtle streets, giving it an antiquated feel that is both intruiging and almost nostalgic.
Look into BSB’s past when you visit the Malay Technology Museum, filled with artifacts that show life in Brunei’s history. Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque is a pristine building of white and gold that is the biggest attraction in BSB. Don’t forget to take a photo! Don’t miss a trip to the Water Heritage Village, known to the locals as Kampong Ayer, to check the sight of houses on stilts.

  • Malay Technology Museum - Despite the “technology” found in its title, the museum actually focuses on traditional innovations and living in Brunei.

  • Sultan Omar ali Saifuddien Mosque - A beautiful building with a gilded top. This palace of prayer is also quite popular as a tourist spot.

  • Royal Regalia Exhibition Centre - Built to commemorate the Silver Jubilee The Sultan of Brunei’s accession to the throne in 1967. It is filled with all sorts of royal items and displays

  • Jame'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque - Built to commemorate the current Sultan’s 25th reigning year. It is the largest of Brunei’s mosques and sports 29 golden domes.

  • Istana Nurul Iman - The official residence of the Sultan of Brunei. Stop here for a quick photo op of the unique architecture.

  • Water Heritage Village - Known to the locals as Kampong Ayer. This village is situated out in Brunei Bay where it is composed of two-storey stilt houses.

Local Eats

  • Ketupat - a type of rice cake or dumpling. The rice is stuffed into a handwoven pouch made of palm leaves and then boiled, expanding the rice in a nifty little package

  • Ambuyat - An authentic Brunei dish that a mass of gooey sago-based jelly. They are eaten by wrapping it around two sticks and dipped into a sauce of your choice for flavor

Day 01

Arrive at the Brunei International Airport. From there, you will be picked up and transported to your hotel. Check-in at the standard time, 2 pm, and then relax for your first day.

Day 02

After breakfast, start off your Half-day City Tour at the Malay Technology Museum, which actually features traditional artifacts and innovations that existed in Brunei. From there, head on over to the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, a beautiful and very solemn tourist attraction. Move to the Royal Regalia Exhibition Centre and Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, both buildings related to the current Sultan of Brunei. Before heading back to the hotel for the day, take a photo of the Istana Nurul Iman, the official residence of Brunei’s Sultan.

Day 03

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and then proceed to explore the area at your leisure for your free time. Return to the hotel once again to enjoy some sleep before the final day of the tour.

Day 04

Start the day with a hearty breakfast before going off to enjoy some free time. Return to the Hotel for the standard 12 noon hotel check-out. Once that’s over you will be transferred to the airport once again for your departure flight home.
