From the golden walls and roofs to the red accents and orange-brown monk robes, culture meets beauty in Luang Prabang, Laos. Rich in natural caves and waterfalls, Luang Prabang is not short of natural beauty. If you fancy the animal life, Elephant interactions and rides can be found here as well. The temples within the area also shine through as beautiful historical sites that exhibit beautiful architecture and design. Not only will you do some sightseeing, but you’ll be able to shop around for some of the beautiful handmade crafts they have to offer.
Overview
Enjoy a cultural walkthrough of the majestic Luang Prabang. Exploring all of the temples and wats gives you a wide scope of the architecture and culture of the people. A visit to the Blang Hamong Village to get some insight on the lives of the indigenous tribes of Luang Prabang. Climb Mount Phousi to visit one of the more religious sights of Luang Prabang or you can go shopping at the Street Night Market for some local wares.

Travel: (Manila - Luang Prabang) Three (3) hours and six (6) minutes via air travel

Must try:

  • Swimming in Kuang Si Falls
  • Visiting all of the different wats.

Must see:

  • Wat Visoun - the oldest and perhaps the most beautiful temple of Luang Prabang. Its roof was embellished with two additional gable roofs and covered two side galleries, which was unlike any other of the wats.
  • Wat Aham - Also known as the "Monastery of the Opened Heart" is a serene place. it served as a mediating, or perhaps meeting, ground between the animist religion of spirit guardians and Theravada Buddhism.
  • Wat Mai - Built in the 18th century it is located near the Royal Palace Museum. It is the largest and most richly decorated of the temples in Luang Prabang.
  • Wat Xieng Thong - Once known as “The Temple of the Golden City”, it holds great cultural, historic and architectural importance. It is serenely situated near the tip of the peninsula at the confluence of two rivers, with a grand staircase leading up from the Mekong.
  • Kuang Si Falls - Kuang Si Waterfall is the biggest in the Luang Prabang area with three tiers leading to a 50-metre drop. The waters are perfect for taking a little dip.
  • Blang Hmong Village - A village where an indigenous tribe of Luang Prabang resides.
  • Mount Phou si - A hill in the middle of an old town in Luang Prabang. It houses a few Buddhist shrines and is considered a religious site.
  • Street Night Market- A nightly market only open between 5:00pm to 11:00pm. It starts at Wat Mai and runs along Sisavangvong Road.
  • Wat Chom Si (Gilded Stupa) - A sacred place at the summit of Mount Phousi. Because it is considered a sacred place, visitors are advised to dress decently and keep as quiet as possible in its area.

Local eats:

  • Or lam (mildly spicy and thick stew with meat, spices and veggies)

  • Luang Prabang sausage (pork or spicy beef variety)

  • Mok pa (steamed fish)

  • Mekong River moss (served fried) with its chilli sauce (cheo bong)

Day 01

Upon arrival at the Luang Prabang International Airport, meet with the driver who will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 02

Have your breakfast and then proceed to the tour where you’ll visit the Royal Palace Museum, the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, and the shrine of Wat Aham. We will then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred Gilded Stupa and beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River, and explore Luang Prabang Night Market. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 03

Enjoy a hearty breakfast and a bit of leisure time before you are called to check-out and transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
