  • Sun Moon Lake- The largest body of water within Taiwan. Its name comes from the fact that the lake’s east side resembles a sun whereas the west looks like a moon.

  • Taroko National Park- A beautiful park that helps preserve the natural life within Taiwan. It has many amazing wonders that will definitely make your trip more memorable.

  • Wenwu Temple - also known as Literature-Warrior Temple, dedicated to Confucius as Master of Pen and to Kuan Ti as Master of Sword

  • Liuhe Tourist Night Market - one of the popular markets in Taiwan which offers variety of delicious food, specialties, drinks, and seafood.

  • Ci-en Pagoda - built by Chiang Kai-Shek in memory of his mother in 1971. Surrounded by beautiful plants and trees, the pagoda is located on Sha Ba Lan Mountain near Sun Moon Lake, overlooking Lalu Island and Sun Moon Lake.

  • Kenting National Park - Taiwan’s first National Park established on January 1, 1948. The fantastic climate, lush forests, beaches, and reef environments make Kenting a rival to internationally-famous tropical resorts like Bali and Phuket.

  • Kaohsiung - is the second largest city of Taiwan.

  • Maobitou - Located in the west cape of southern Taiwan, right on the demarcation point of Taiwan Strait and Bashi Channel. It is an excellent landform classroom with various scarps, reef columns, sea trenches, sea erosion caves and pot holes.

  • East Coast National Scenic Area - Regarded as Taiwan’s “last unspoiled land." Weathering, erosion, and accumulation have produced a wide range of landforms here – from coastal terraces, beaches, shoreline reefs, inshore islands, and capes to sea-eroded platforms, trenches, and caves. This is serves home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna.

  • Eternal Spring Shrine- One of the most picturesque spots within Taroko National Park. It is also one of the main memorial for 212 veterans who were building the Central Cross-Island Highway.

  • Hualien County Stone Sculptural Park- A part of the Hualien County Stone Sculptural Museum where most of Taiwan’s sculptural masterpieces come from. The grounds are filled with all kinds of interesting stone sculptures as well.

  • Swallow Caves- Another location within the Taroko area. The rocky potholes surrounding the stone walls are used primarily for nesting by the local swallows, hence its name.

Local Eats

  • Braised Snacks- A variety of food items that are first fried lightly and then added to a tasty broth.

  • Red Bean Cake- A special snack that was brought over by the Japanese. It is a waffle-like cake with a red bean mix added inside.

  • Stinky Tofu- A type of tofu that has been fermented long enough to have a certain odor. It can be served in a variety of ways.

  • Beef Noodle Soup- A delicious noodle soup that uses beef briskets or shanks to help add a more savory and delicious flavor while also being a tender enough to easily snack on.

Day 1: Arrival in Taiwan. Meet and greet at Taoyuan International Airport. Transfer by private car (no guide) for hotel check-in. Rest of the day is free at own leisure. Overnight.

Day 2: Taipei

Breakfast at hotel. Begin with Half-day Taipei City Tour - go around Taipei city including the impressive Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum where 5,000 years of Chinese imperial arts and jade collections are exhibited, Martyrs’ Shrine of traditional architecture and change of Honor Guards, a local Taiwanese temple, and Taipei Handicraft Center. Rest of the day is free at own leisure.

Day 3: Taipei/Sun Moon Lake, Natural Hot Spring

Breakfast at hotel. After hotel pickup in Taipei City, drive to Sun Moon Lake which is located in the middle of Taiwan and situated 762 meters above sea level in the lofty mountains of Central Taiwan. Tour will stop at the famous Wenwu Temple, also known as Literature-Warrior Temple, dedicated to Confucius as Master of Pen and to Kuan Ti as Master of Sword, Holy Monk Shrine and Ci En Pagoda. Hotel check-in. Overnight

Hotel: Fleur De Chine – Mountain View Room (5) or similar*

Day 4: Sun Moon Lake/Fao Guang Shan Monastery/Kaohsiung

Breakfast at hotel then check out. Pass by the lovely small and old Jiji Railway Station, drive to Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Monastery, the most famous Buddhist sacred place of southern Taiwan. Here you will learn about Buddhism during the monastery walking tour to visit “Buddha Memorial Center” and communicate with some of the monks or nuns during the visit. There will also be an opportunity to taste Buddhist vegetarian lunch (at own cost). Continue to Kaohsiung which is the second largest city of Taiwan. The tour will take you to Love River and Liuhe Night Market. Overnight stay at Kaohsiung.

Day 5: Kaohsiung/Kenting/Zhiben Hot Springs, Taitung

Breakfast. Start morning tour to Kenting National Park, located at Taiwan’s southern tip and the 37 miles of coral-rimmed shoreline along three sides of the park provide its main attractions. Stops will be made at Eluanbi lighthouse, Maobitou coastal scenic area and Longpan Park. Continuously we will drive to Taitung via Southern Link Highway. Overnight stay at Zhiben. Enjoy natural hot spring at Hotel Royal Chihpen.

Day 6: Taitung/East Coast National Scenic Area/Taroko

Breakfast at hotel. Proceed to East Coast Tour. The East Coast National Scenic Area, known as Taiwan’s last unspoiled land, stretches 170 km down the east coast of the island. Weathering, erosion, and accumulation have produced a wide range of landforms here. Our tour will stop at Xiaoyeliu, Sanxiantai, Shitiping (Stone Steps), marble factory and showroom. Late in the afternoon, proceed to Hualien for overnight stay at Taroko National Park.

Day 7: Taroko National Park/Taipei

Breakfast at hotel. Visit to Taroko National Park. Taroko Gorge is an exceptionally beautiful, narrow raving created by the Liwu river which has cut deep into the mountains of solid marble. A road carved into sheer walls of rock rewinding its way past forested peaks and cliffs towering thousands of feet above it, while hundreds of feet below a river roars past gigantic marble boulders. Pass by Tunnel of Nine Turns, Ci Mu Bridge, stops will be made at Swallow Grotto, and Changchun Temple (Eternal Spring Shrine). We will then drive back to Taipei with a stop at Cingshui Cliff, drive through 12.9-km Syue-Shan Long Tunnel to arrive at around 6 p.m.

Day 8: Taipei

Free at own leisure until hotel check out. Transfer to airport for departure flight by private car (no guide).
